Our
2007 Late Spring meeting and AGM was held in the beautiful Cotswolds, UK, on Sunday
15th April, at the Roman
Court Hotel, Stow-on-the-Wold.

After last year's
wet and windy weather, the weather gods smiled on us this year,
and over 20 cars and 50 people enjoyed the warmest day of the
year so far, basking in temperatures of 25° C (77° F),
amazing for the middle of April! Needless to say, a great day
was had by all, including a scenic blast around the Cotswolds
in the morning, led byJames Wiseman, followed by much car talk,
and the important business of the AGM.
The
main points were the unanimous voting through of the
Register's status as a limited company, the re-election
of the committee, plus we have a new Chairman in the
form of the ex-editor Paul Gregory!! Peter Yaxley received
the Elsie Smith Award for his efforts for the Register, whilst Simon
Gunney received the Chairman's Award.
A
group of 13 Giuliettas and Giulias and
25 crew travelled to Scotland for 2007's Register Tour, The
Carrera Pancaledonia. Leaving
from Dryburgh Abbey in the Borders, the tourists enjoyed
a day's sightseeing in Edinburgh before heading off to the
Highlands.

An
overnight stop on the beautiful and tranquil Loch Rannoch was
followed by a run through spectacular countryside to Fort
William and up the The Great Glen to Invergarry and the
drive to Kyle of Lochalsh. Running past romantic Eilean
Donan Castleness, the tourists turned north-east and ran up
the shore of Loch Carron to Achnasheen and finally to the hotel
in Inverness which was to be the base for the next three nights. Despite
a couple of days rain, spirits were hardly dampened and
even a trip to Applecross via the Pass of the Cattle in low
cloud was a memorable experience.

When the
sun did appear, the long runs out to the North Western
Highlands on fabulously sinuous fast roads were hugely
enjoyable. A visit to Inverewe Gardens and the run up
to Ullapool were further highlights. The final night's
stay was in Kenmore after a lovely run through the Cairngorms
via Grantown-on Spey and Braemar to Pitlochry and included
a visit to the eccentric Craigievar Castle. The friendly informal
atmosphere of the tour, plus the local knowledge of Will
Grime and John Bennett and the excellent management by
Richard Hampton, resulted in the participants voting the Carrera
Pancaledonia a resounding success.
