FOR SALE: RHD 101 Giulia Spider
Giulia spider 101 1965 RHD normale for sale. White with black trim plus original steel hardtop. Bumpers not fitted but I do have them and they have been rechromed apart from the front over riders which still need done. I have owned it for 11 years and have spent the first half of this year rebuilding it for the Milan 100 yrs celebrations which we participated in without a hitch. The car has spent a great number of years prior to this May in prolonged restoration limbo.
There are lots and lots of great things to tell you about the car such as rebuilt engine, restored bodywork, new hood, new brake system, new cooling system, complete rewire using modern components e.g. blade fuses, many many new components and lots of refurbishment but still lots to do.
It is currently good to go anywhere, runs beautifully, steers, drives & sits the road perfectly and has the bonus of all "perishable" components being new e.g. fuel pump, water pump, radiator, hoses, brake pipes, master cylinder, rear wheel cylinders, battery, alternator conversion etc. therefore very much a fresh car. There are, however, a few areas of bodywork and shut lines which are not good enough and would need rectified to bring the car properly up to scratch. The front valance is home-made, the door shut-lines are poor, one front wing needs tweaked at the headlamp and the finish on the outer sills isn't good. It is, however, totally solid and looks great under casual observation. It does not bear up under close scrutiny though. I did keep an eye on the rebuild at the body shop and also stripped the car back to bare metal myself so I am confident there are no holes full of filler or dodgy repairs. It does need a bit of TLC though. The other minor drawback which became apparent after the rebuild is that the gearbox has the wrong 5th gear ratio for the car, running at 4000rpm at 60mph. I went to Italy in it like this though, and we just tootled there and back at 60mph and it went beautifully, including 3 sessions of Milan city-centre traffic.
I have hundreds of photos and much more to tell you about the car. Priced accordingly at £15000 to allow scope for the few things that need doing but please bear in mind it has had a lot of good work undertaken and is good to go as-is. It is as finished or unfinished as you want it to be. Call Bruce for more info on 01674 810766 evenings and weekends or email using the link below. The car is located in Montrose, Scotland.
