The Shuttleworth Collection depicts the history of flight from the early 1900s to the 1950s and shows how the aeroplane developed in the pioneering years, was rapidly developed through necessity during World War 1, was used for sport pleasure and business in the 1920s and 30s. and once again became a fighting machine in World war 2. The collection includes over 50 unique and mostly original aeroplanes from the Edwardian period onwards and is world famous. many of the aircraft are the only surviving examples of their marque in the world. The collection also includes vintage and veteran cars, motorcycles and bicycles and, from a bygone era, the coach room with horse drawn carriages. Once a year they hold an event called Wings and Wheels which is a fantastic day of old aircraft both static and flying. We will have our own dedicated parking area for 25 cars, and we have secured a pre-paid group booking for the day. As in previous years we are offering a FREE PICNIC but you need to register with Tony Ives before the event.
